This is a blog where I tell you (whoever is viewing this) about my life in anonymous terms. What I write will be what I'm thinking and what I never really say. Someone needs to know my thoughts, I think. Maybe not. Anyway, I hope you find my blog entertaining, interesting, and inspiring. Or something of that sort.

DIY Herringbone Bulletin Board

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

I absolutely LOVE this bulletin board that I made!
It's really easy to bring color and style into a room by painting a bulletin board with beautiful, bright, light colors!

My design was inspired by this photo:
For some reason I decided not to look on the article that went along with it, and I just decided to improvise.
But here is the link to the post if you want to check it out: http://www.peasandcrayons.com/2011/10/diy-herringbone-fashion-inspiration.html

This is what I started with:

I had to remove the fabric (and save it for another day) so that I can start from scratch

I then began the painstaking process of maturing everything out. This was probably the most difficult thing to do and took the most time (mainly because I wanted to make sure that everything turned out perfect) But imperfection isn't everything.

Here is the pattern that I came up with:

Some of the sort of diamond shapes are smaller because I wasn't planning on painting those, but it's a good thing I did because I think it looks better than what I was originally planning.

With a little help from a friend, I painted the board using two different colors. I LOVE the combination of white and a light blue!
I used acrylic craft paint, which worked really well! (I only needed to do one coat of paint)

And here was my result!

(Not my best photography skills)
